Warthogs Bush Camp

Top choice in Zimbabwe

One of only a handful of places in Zimbabwe catering to the needs of independent budget travellers, Warthogs is doing a fantastic job of it. Accommodation is no-frills, with campsites, domed tents, A-frame huts and thatched cabins, all with piping hot wood-fired showers.

Its pub has a wonderful setting overlooking Lake Kariba and, like a tropical dive bar, attracts all kinds of local characters.

There's good pub grub and its staff is friendly and helpful. It often gets animal visitors, such as hippos, elephants and zebra – keep your distance.
