Skirrid Mountain Inn

Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog

This 'may' be Wales' oldest inn; Owain Glyndŵr 'may' have rallied troops here; and Shakespeare 'may' have taken inspiration from it: whatever the conjecture, there's no doubt that the Skirrid is very old (probably pre-1110) and suitably atmospheric. Downstairs it serves hearty food in front of roaring fires.

Outside the bedrooms a noose hangs to remind guests that 180 people were hanged here, when it served as a court. Perhaps.
