Plymouth Artisan Cheese

Vermont

Set in the bucolic hamlet of Plymouth Notch, birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge, this small operation produces a traditional farmhouse cheddar known as granular curd cheese, whose distinctively sharp tang and grainy texture are reminiscent of the wheel cheese commonly found at general stores throughout Vermont. Panels downstairs tell the history of local cheese production, while the museum upstairs displays cheese-making equipment from a bygone era.
