Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum/Burkle Estate

This unimposing clapboard house is thought to have been a way station for runaway slaves on the Underground Railroad, complete with trapdoors, cellar entry and cubbyholes. Guided tours share details about the Railroad and include a chilling stop in the dark cellar, which would have served as a final hideout before a dash to a boat on the Mississippi River.
