Modern Theatre

The Modern Theatre dates to 1876 and showed Boston's first 'talkie' in 1928. Nearly a century later, the building opened its doors again as a venue for Suffolk University, holding an intimate 185-seat theater. Only the facade remains from the original building, but it looks stellar – another step in the revival of a mini theater district on lower Washington St.
