Fish Fry

Top choice in Nassau

The colorful village of conch stands, bars, jerk joints and seafood restaurants at Arawak Cay, known collectively as the 'Fish Fry', is one of Nassau's great experiences. Come for conch salad, fried chicken wings, fritters, blackened snapper, ‘sky juice', Rake’n’scrape bands, reggae DJs, Junkanoo dances and friendly chatter.

The fish fry restaurants are open most days but Friday to Sunday evening are most popular and Sunday is the big locals night, when crowds gather after spending the day with family. Twin Brothers and Drifters are two of the more popular joints and have inside seating, but to be honest everywhere is good at the Fish Fry, and the semipermanent vans sell cheaper food. Maybe just follow the locals’ lead and plump for the place with the longest line.
