Elefin

Contender for the best cafe in Isan, this coffee shop and restaurant has a wonderful lakeside perch and is serious about its beans (all Thai-grown). It's in a beautifully restored building, and the lovely tiles and wooden cabinets filled with family heirlooms and assorted bric-a-brac make it almost museum-like. As with the coffee, the Thai food is excellent too.
