Jay Fai

Top choice in Banglamphu

Wearing ski goggles and furiously cooking over a charcoal fire, septuagenarian Jay Fai is renowned for serving Bangkok’s tastiest (and priciest) crab omelettes and pàt kêe mow (wide rice noodles fried with seafood and Thai herbs). The price, however, is justified by copious fresh seafood, plus a distinct frying style resulting in an almost oil-free finished dish.

The restaurant is located in a virtually unmarked shophouse, but walking down the road, it's quite impossible to miss the sight of the one-Michelin-star chef cooking away with superhero fervour in the open kitchen.
