Neighbouring the Opera House, this historic hotel with its modernest glass panels and proud Corinthian columns, should be a top address. Alas, it's in dire need of modernisation, with tired carpets, lino and old TVs. That said, some rooms sport modern en suite bathrooms with Western-style loos and the location may compensate for the lack of AC, wi-fi and breakfast.
