Seville's archaeology museum, housed in a grandiose, neo-Renaissance palace at the southern end of the Parque de María Luisa, is a wonderful, oft-overlooked treasure trove of prehistoric artefacts and ancient finds. Highlights include a series of Roman sculptures, mosaics and statues – many unearthed at the nearby site of Itálica – and gold jewellery from the mysterious Tartessos culture.
