Hospederia Puente de Alconétar

Top choice in Extremadura

Right on the historic Plaza de la Constitución, the four-star Hospederia Puente de Alconétar inhabits a restored 15th-century palace. Rooms are modern and attractively clean-lined, though some in the older wing have lovely feature walls in stone or brick that add a real sense of character. Room 205 has a stunning view of the square.

The restaurant is similarly excellent with dishes (mains €13 to €21) that may include stuffed red peppers filled with wild mushrooms with a vanilla and raisin sauce or lamb chops marinated in paprika from La Vera.
