Villa Rosario

Asturias

Occupying a century-old casa de indianos (house built by an emigrant returned from the Americas), this luxurious, history-filled hotel overlooks Playa de Santa Marina. Interiors are pleasingly styled with wood floors, rich-toned carpets and an original cherry-wood staircase, while the 17 white-on-white rooms are tastefully contemporary. The buffet breakfast is excellent. The Villa Rosario 2 block out back is also comfortable, and cheaper, but lacks historical character.

In the garden you'll find the classy creative Asturian restaurant Naguar, where a set menu will set you back anywhere between €49 and €175.
