Meigle Museum

Tiny Meigle Museum has 26 beautiful carved Pictish stones dating from the 7th to the 9th centuries, all found in the local area. Motifs range from propaganda for local strongmen to intricate geometric designs, biblical scenes and a whole menagerie of strange beasts. If the manager is there, she’s a mine of information on the carvings and is happy to help you unravel some of the complex symbolism.
