Los Canarios

Veracruz City

With large windows overlooking the malecón, it’s hard to resist this fancy place on the ground floor of Hotel Emporio. It specialises in à la mode Spanish cooking, mixed, of course, with a few Mexican inflections. Catalan-style arróz negro (rice with squid ink and calamari) is excellent and the service doesn’t miss a beat.

The hungry will appreciate the seafood buffet (adult/child M$310/160) served all day Thursday to Sunday.
