Woodley Park Guest House

Originally built as a private home in 1907, this elegant B&B close to the Metro stop offers excellent value. Upper-floor rooms are nice and sunny; basement ones have low ceilings and windows overlooking the carpark. Note that rooms don't have TVs, and those with shared bathrooms have an occupancy of one person only. Breakfast is a bountiful, organic, communal affair.

Woodley Park’s sister property – Embassy Circle Guest House near Dupont Circle – is also a winner.
