Taking over most of (relatively) quiet Hat Kata Noi, this upmarket resort offers all the usual trimmings in stylish surrounds: six pools, heaps of space and activities, and large, very comfortable rooms amid palm-dappled grounds.

There are several child-friendly pools, family rooms, a kids' club, kids' menus, a host of activities and babysitting service. Excellent low-season deals are often available.

The luxury, adults-only arm of the resort, Shore at Katathani, is a peaceful, ultraluxurious private world of pastel-painted villas fronted by a luscious infinity pool practically on the beach.
