Heath River Wildlife Center

Amazon Basin

This simple, 10-room lodge is owned by the Ese’eja indigenous people of Sonene, who provide guiding and cultural services. Trails into the isolated Parque Nacional Bahuaja-Sonene are available, and field biologists have assessed this area as one of the most biodiverse in southeastern Peru. Capybaras are frequently seen, and guided tours to a nearby macaw clay lick are arranged.

Hot water is provided and park entrance fees are included. The first and/or last nights of tours are sometimes spent at Sandoval Lake Lodge. Tour prices are notoriously hard to understand because tours involve staying at more than one lodge, so do check at the time of reserving.

Reserve online or through InkaNatura in Lima.
