Casa Cultural

Darién Province

About 3km south of the Interamericana this thatched 'House of Culture' on stilts in Ipetí Choco shelters some two-dozen women artisans who will sell you their magnificent woven baskets and masks, cocobolo walking sticks and small animals carved from tagua nuts.

You can also have a traditional jagua body painting done for a few dollars. This henna-like plant extract leaves a temporary tattoo for up to two weeks.
