About 25km northwest of Tete, overlooking the river, is the Missão de Boroma. Founded in 1885 by Jesuit missionaries, it was known for its colégio (school), its carpentry-training centre and its attractive church. It was abandoned for many years, but activities have recommenced on a small scale. You'll need a 4WD to get here.
