Once the childhood home of a French minister, this 1920s farmstead is in a tranquil farm setting a five-minute walk from Volubilis. The affable owner Azzeddine used to be a chef in Holland – guests enjoy his organic modern Moroccan lunches. It's the perfect shady spot after exploring the ruins. Donkeys, chickens and peacocks roam under the trees. Advance booking is essential.
The original house offers three cosy but somewhat musty rooms (r from Dh550), mixing Berber textiles with French antiques and open fires. There's one bathroom between them. The barn has a large restaurant catering for groups, and another bedroom with bathroom upstairs. There's no wi-fi.
