Riad Bledna

Top choice in Marrakesh

Welcome to the garden villa of the Moroccan-British Nour family, who pamper visitors as if they are favourite house guests. With eight rooms of spice-toned tadelakt (waterproof plaster) walls and traditional tataoui ceilings (made from reeds woven into intricate patterns), a filtered pool and delicious home cooking (with produce from their organic five-acre garden), this is a peaceful and thoroughly homey country pad.

If you can't stay the night, day rates (per person including lunch and transfer €25) offer superb value, covering use of the big oxygen-filtered pool (with shallow end for kids), tasty homemade lunches and transfers to and from the medina.

Free medina transfers are offered if you stay three nights or more; otherwise, it's €10 per trip. The hosts can also arrange airport pickups, cooking classes, hands-on craft workshops and desert trips or mountain eco-excursions organised through Mohammed's Inside Morocco Travel company.

You'll find it 16km east of Marrakesh, signposted off the Route de Ouarzazate.
