Cenaduría Julia

Western Central Highlands

This institution in the northern suburb of Villa de Álvarez is one of the area's best-loved restaurants. The dishes to try here are the sopitos (small circular tortillas topped with meat, spices and tomato sauce; M$40 for eight) as well as the tacos tuxpeños (tortillas dipped in smoky adobo sauce and fried and filled with refried beans or pork; M$35 for four).

It doesn’t look like much, but at these prices for authentic cocina colimense (Colima-style cuisine), it’s well worth the short taxi ride (M$40) from the town center.
