Temple Gate Hotel

The soaring cathedral-ceilinged lobby at this epicentral 70-room hotel was once part of the 19th-century Sisters of Mercy convent. Upper-floor rooms (reached by a lift) have views over Ennis' rooftops, but try to avoid ground-floor rooms facing the car park at the rear. There's an on-site restaurant and a great bar, the Preachers Pub, which also serves quality bar food.
