Haj Ali Darvish Teahouse

Top choice in Tehran

There's been a teahouse here next to Abdollah Khan Madrassa since 1917, and Haj Kazem's father Ali took over the business in 1962. It's now a stand-up 2m-wide stall rather than a sit-down teahouse, but still worth searching out for its six types of tea (IR20,000), hot chocolate and coffee – all lovingly prepared by the genial Kazem.

With a very active Instagram account, he's no slouch when it comes to social media and marketing, making this little gem one of the most popular pit-stops in the bazaar.
