Ebnesina Traditional Hotel

Esfahan

This lovely old house, with a dazzling set of murals in the foyer and copious mirror work, is something of a treat in a city lacking in characterful accommodation. With good views from the rooftop coffee shop (open in summer), the 60 rooms each sport a hand-painted door with roses and paisley patterns. Management is friendly, though not much English is spoken.

A small workshop at the entrance supports artisans who work with minakari (enamel work). This ancient Esfahani craft fires (usually blue and white) enamel onto copper in meticulously fine designs.
