Taman Ujung

East Bali

A hugely popular location for wedding photographs and romantic saunters, this complex five kilometres south of Amlapura dates to 1921, when the last king of Karangasem completed the construction of a grand water palace here. Largely destroyed by a 1979 earthquake, it has recently been restored courtesy of World Bank funding. It attracts fewer foreign visitors than Tirta Gangga, which predates it by approximately three decades.
