Hótel Glymur

This hotel on the northern side of Hvalfjörður, near Saurbær, is a cache of contemporary amenities, from double-decker 'executive doubles' with giant picture windows to a hot-pot named one of the ‘top five hot tubs in the world’ by the New York Times. There's also a good restaurant (two-course menu 5900kr, mains 4300kr to 5000kr; open 6.30pm to 9pm) with spectacular views.
