Auberge les Myrtilles

Top choice in The Pyrenees

You’ll feel rather like you’re staying in the Canadian wilderness here, with its timber-framed chalet cabins and forested hillside setting. It’s a wonderful place to settle yourself: despite the rustic style, there are lots of luxury spoils, including a covered swimming pool with a knockout view, a Swedish-style sauna and, of course, mountain panoramas on every side. It’s about 20km west of Foix on the D17.

The restaurant (menu €26) is great for local cuisine – don’t miss the Azinat (a duck, sausage and vegetable hotpot).
