Le Nid

Top choice in Nantes

Far more than just a bar, Le Nid (or The Nest) is an interactive art installation by Nantais artist Jean Jullien. Designer armchairs, with yolk-yellow seat cushions, resemble broken eggs and the bar squats inside a giant white bird, half-stork, half-heron. Panoramic views of the city from floor-to-ceiling windows are predictably magnificent; electro 'Birdy' DJ sets kick off at 10pm every Thursday; and there's jamming sessions every Sunday from 7pm.

Find the bar on the 32nd floor of 144m-high Tour Bretagne, built in 1976 to house a 90,000L water reservoir. Cocktails and cheese, charcuterie and seafood platters make Le Nid a tasty spot for a sundown drink.
