The Basket of Crabs is, funnily enough, a self-proclaimed bistrot de gens de mer (seafarers' bistro) dishing up sensational Marennes d'Oléron oysters, winkles and whelks, shrimps, crabs and extravagant seafood platters at a price that doesn't break the bank. Local seafarer Olivier Tétaud is the man behind this earthy, no-frills address and works exclusively with local fishermen.
For non-fish lovers, Olivier serves various porky products by artisan-charcutier Monsieur Riton and sensational cheeses by Rochelaise cheesemonger Fred.
