André

Top choice in La Rochelle

Opened in the 1950s as a waterfront seafood cafe, André grew so popular it began buying adjacent shops. It is now an eye-catching maze of eight different interconnecting rooms, each with its own individual ambience (dinner in a port-holed cabin, anyone?) but all serving the same succulent seafood caught the night before.

Expect luxuriant seafood platters (€20 to €59), local sole and moules simmered in sweet Pineau des Charentes. Service is equally exceptional.
