Le Comptoir des Dombes

A great find, in the village of Lapeyrouse, about 5km southwest of Villars-les-Dombes. Le Comptoir des Dombes feels both relaxed and elegant, with efficient service, appealing decor and unpretentious but tried-and-true La Dombes recipes, including chicken in cream sauce, frogs' legs served with gratin dauphinois (potatoes and cream) and pike dumplings. There's outdoor seating in summer.
