Hôtel La Place

Antibes

It's rare to find contemporary chic decor and a warm, professional welcome next to a city bus station, but La Place does it awfully well. Its 14 rooms are spacious, stylish and dressed in soothing taupe and aubergine or aniseed green. Three have bijou balconies. Breakfast (€13) and an evening buffet of antipasti (€15) are served in the airy lounge.

It's all squeezed into a tall, narrow building; unfortunately there's no lift.
