Koeben

Bordeaux

Coffee shop, tea room, upmarket grocery and design-cool boutique: overnight this Scandinavian drink-dine-shop hybrid upped the street cred of fashionable rue du Palais Gallien. The interior is predictably clean-cut, with a muted colour palette, pale wood flooring and Danish-designed furniture of course. In the kitchen owner Peter Johansen prepares recipes inspired by his Danish mother's cook book.

Think marinated herrings, salmon, lots of black bread and a must-try Sunday brunch (adult/child €33/17).
