Only in gourmet Bordeaux can the age-old local food market boast a nouvelle génération coffee shop. Argentinian-born, Bordeaux-raised Gaele Nadur is the creative energy behind the stand in Marché des Capucins that uses specialty coffee beans roasted by Ten Belles and Brûlerie Belleville in Paris and homegrown Café Piha to make excellent espressos and cafés crèmes (flat whites).
The brass ('laiton' in French, hence the cafe's name) counter and fantastically down-to-earth pavement terrace basking in the morning sun are much-appreciated nods to tradition.
