Sankta Maria Kyrka

Åland Archipelago

Kvarnbo's red-granite Sankta Maria Kyrka dates from the 13th century and contains a fine clover-shaped baptismal font and fragmentary frescos of the period. The island's largest Iron Age archaeological site surrounds the church.

As recently as 2016, excavations north of the church uncovered a medieval farm and several houses dating from the 6th to the 13th centuries.
