With its cupolas, colonnades and impeccably kept grounds, this hilltop Victorian manor looks impossibly grand (it supposedly inspired Toad Hall in Wind in the Willows). But it's actually a fun, quirky, very family-friendly hotel, with a fanciful mix of antique furniture and modern design, varied room layouts and facilities ranging from a luxury spa to a pool, restaurant and crèche.
