Restaurant Mes

Top choice in Copenhagen

This rising star burst onto the Copenhagen dining scene in 2017. Owned by chef Mads Rye Magnusson (former chef at Michelin-three-starred Geranium), it's an intimate, refreshingly whimsical space, complete with moss feature wall and graffiti-soaked restrooms by local artist Fy. Most impressive is the menu, driven by market produce and the creative whims of its young, highly talented head chef.

Dining here is a good-value, set-menu affair, each course as beautiful to look at as it is to eat. Single ingredients are often worked in various ways in the one dish, such as grilled tomato 'steak' with tomato powder and tomato wafer served in an intense, sultry brown-butter sauce, or a surprisingly complex baked leek filled with cream cheese, topped with white currants and served in a delicate leek broth. The wines are German, French and mostly natural. The kitchen closes at 10.30pm; book ahead.
