The five-star Paradisus has recently carved a new campus out of what's left of Varadero's fallow land and renovated its original complex. They join a third wing – the adults-only Royal Service suites (an interesting oxymoron in steadfastly republican Cuba). The whole place is open-plan with tasteful architecture directing views toward a wide beach backed by perfectly manicured lawns shaded by palms.
Decor is funky-modern and the musical backing often classical.
