A good place to rest your maletas (suitcases) for a while, this private ‘hostal’ has all the classic Habana Vieja calling cards: high ceilings, spiral staircases and creaky rocking chairs. It’s pricier than smaller casas particulares but still a good deal cheaper than some of Havana’s crappier state-run hotels – and it has much better service.
You can linger in the atmospheric communal areas, including a classic wrought-iron balcony overlooking wonderfully chaotic Calle Empedrado.
