Serious shoppers can visit the Northwest Antique Market, by Zhongshan Gate. This three-storey warren of shops selling jade, seals, antiques and Mao memorabilia sees far fewer foreign faces than the Muslim Quarter. Dozing street sellers also display their wares south along Shuncheng Donglu (顺城东路北段). As with everywhere, however, examine everything with a critical eye.
