LN Garden Hotel

Realised on an epic scale, this Chinese-run behemoth (c 1985) remains one of the city's best-loved hotels, with 800-plus rooms, nine restaurants, boutiques and a Jurassic-sized artificial waterfall cascading over gardens. Partly renovated in 2015, it earns plaudits for its spacious rooms and warm service.
