Parkview Green

Top choice in Beijing

In a city in thrall to the mall, this futuristic, ecofriendly pyramid stands out from the crowd. Hong Kong–owned Parkview Green is a fabulously ambitious, art-strewn wonderland enclosing designer boutiques from the likes of Stella McCartney and Sandro, a Tesla showroom, a cinema and brilliant restaurants, including Italian fine-dining Opera Bombana and casual duck joint Taste of Dadong.

Playful sculptures abound, such as Korean artist Seung-Koo Lee’s cartoonish bull-terriers. A herd of full-sized cows, some skeletal, hang suspended from the eaves above a 5m-high Eiffel Tower (which turns out not to be a sculpture at all, but a vendor of delicious Breton-style crepes). In Hotel Eclat, which also occupies the pyramid space, there are original artworks by Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali.

The building boasts serious green credentials, too. It was the first commercial project in China to be awarded LEED Platinum status for its environmentally friendly construction and pollution-free micro-climate.
