La Mouette

Liège

Shuttered mirror 'windows', blue-glaze seagulls and skeletal lamps create a surprisingly charming ambience, vaguely like a denuded English teashop but with Sufi-style music adding a mellifluous sense of calm. On paper the food seems forgettable; largely sandwiches, croques and omelettes. But these get a remarkable Turkish-inspired twist and it's the little extras that make any plate memorable.

Alternatively just compose your own meze directly from the cooler cabinet.
