Kolonel Koffie

Antwerp

Roasting their own beans for some of Antwerp's finest fresh coffee (from €2), this effortlessly hip cafe is the hub of the 'new Zuid', with a sunny roadside terrace, big central meet-and-chat table and lots of laptop action at window perches.

The kitchen produces breakfasts and super-stuffed sandwiches until 2.30pm. Service is remarkably keen and obliging. You'd never guess it but the site was once a petrol station.
