Chez Franz

Brussels

An emporium of nocturnal activities such as gigs, and of apéritifs featuring deli cuts and cheese platters, Chez Franz is a locals' bar. The beers are generous and there's a selection from the Brussels Beer Project brewery. Try a biodynamic Italian wine or a French grenache. Expect a laid-back crowd in their mid-30s coming for Sunday's jazz night.

You can also have breakfast or go for the weekly seasonal lunch (mains €10 to €12) – meatballs and fries, anyone? On weekends, try the generous, laid-back brunch (€7 to €20) of bacon and eggs, homemade pâté and equally scrumptious healthier varieties.
